Life Grows On

A beautiful, lasting tribute created with care
‘Life Grows On’ is a unique and meaningful way to honour loved ones with a lasting, natural tribute.

Each tribute is planted in a handcrafted willow basket, woven in Cumbria and designed to break down naturally as the plants take root and grow. The base is carefully lined with Hortiwool from Staffordshire, leaf mulch and organic wool compost from Dalefoot Farm in Penrith, providing a nurturing foundation for the plants.
Working only with British-grown plants, most sourced from Halecat Nursery, I create each tribute with a variety of beautiful, resilient plants that will thrive and grow over time. Underplanting with a selection of spring bulbs ensures the tribute continues to flourish through the seasons.

With guidance from myself and my team, you’ll be able to select plant varieties that hold special meaning. Each one is unique, just like the loved ones they represent.

Whether placed at a graveside, in a garden of rest, a private garden, an allotment, a balcony or a window box, the tribute is designed to thrive with your care.
As long as the basket is semi-planted, the plants will continue to grow, becoming an ever-evolving tribute to cherished memories.
The inspiration behind 'Life Grows On'
When my beautiful son Matthew passed away, I knew that a traditional floral tribute wouldn’t have been quite right. Any tribute would have to be a true reflection of Matthew.
He was an amazing chef who loved cooking with foraged ingredients from the local landscape – often asking me to create small garlands of herbs to dress his dishes and foraging bark from the woodland floor to present his canapés.
In true Matt style, I was inspired to use a piece of his bark to plant a small garden of herbs in his memory, including
forget-me-nots.
After his funeral, I took this tribute home, caring for it in my garden. Tending to it gave me a sense of peace, and using the herbs in my cooking felt like a way to keep his presence close.

Caring for your basket
When the time feels right, choose a place where your tribute will settle and grow.
-
Place the basket on the ground and lightly outline its shape.
-
Move the basket aside and clear the area of grass, weeds or large stones.
-
Dig down approximately 9cm.
-
Lightly water the soil before placing the basket in position, ensuring the rim remains just above ground level.
-
Water the plants gently.
-
Over time, you may wish to add small perennial plants that will flower as the seasons change and bulbs that will bloom in the spring.

Each tribute is created with British-grown plants that are tolerant to most weather and soil conditions, ensuring they continue to grow and flourish.
